The simple concept is called a caloric deficit, and I am sure this is not the first time that you have heard this. You may have even tried it, believed it didn’t work because you didn’t lose weight, and then gave up to try to find some one week diet fad. If you believed you were in a caloric deficit and not losing weight, then it is quite obvious that you simply were not in a caloric deficit.

The first thing that you need to find is your body’s “maintenance” level. This is how many calories that you burn throughout the day. You will need to find your basal metabolic rate (BMR) along with how many calories that you burn while in action or sitting around. Your BMR is simply how many calories that your body burns every single day just to keep your body functioning. From there, you add the calories that you burn from lying down, walking, or any type of movement. Once you find your body’s “maintenance” level, then you will be ready to move onto the next step.

Let’s say that you find out you burn a total of 3,000 calories throughout the day. This means that in order to lose weight, then you must eat below 3,000 calories every single day. Since 3500 calories equals one pound, then you will need to eat at least 500 calories under your maintenance level per day to lose at least one pound per week. Even though this isn’t some one week diet, you will find that the fat really starts falling off fast over time. You will not see some drastic 20 lb loss in a week, but if you can end up losing 2 lbs per week over 30 weeks, then that adds up to a total of 60 lbs! You will look like a completely person, and yo will definitely be proud of it.

One problem that a lot of people run into is that they will start losing weight over a period of time, and then they will run into a plateau where they stop losing weight. From there, the frustration will add up, and then they will just give up on their diet. The plateau means that you must drop your calories in order to keep losing weight. Weight loss should not be over complicated. It really is a simple deal, and that is another reason why one week diet fads are completely ridiculous business.
